Birds and Bees Floral Focus (Low Grass) Wildflower turf
How many times have clients asked you for a wildflower area with no grass? Traditional wildflower turf needs the root structure from grasses to hold it together, but our Birds and Bees Floral Focus Wildflower Turf has a biodegradable coir backing to negate the need to include grasses in the seedmix.

This product was developed especially for green roof applications but adapts beautifully for garden use.

The seedmix is a mix of native plant species offering a glorious floral display that lasts from spring until autumn. The 41 species of flowering plants are mainly perennial species that will keep growing year after year. Expect to see vibrant colour combinations that will delight and support a wide variety of wildlife as well as creating a beautiful garden feature. Using wildflower turf rather than seed not only speeds up establishment, it will help to suppress annual weed seeds in the soil.
  • A vibrant mix of perennial, annual and bi-annual plants for sustainability and lower maintenance.
  • Depending on soil type and local weather, expect to see flowers between March and September.
  • Floral Focus Wild Flower Turf is mown before despatch to minimise damage to plants in transit. It will not be in flower when it is delivered.
  • For summer flowers, install Floral Focus Wildflower Turf before the end of march so that plants have plenty of time to establish.
  • Standard unit size is 1000mm x 1000mm.
  • Average weight is 24Kg per square metre – this may vary slightly according to moisture levels,
  • For roofing applications, install onto AT LEAST 150mm of green roof substrate.
  • Your Floral Focus Meadowmat will adapt to the conditions in your garden and to the weather which means it will bring a different display every single year.
  • For ground applications we recommend laying onto a 150mm depth of nutrient poor soil.

Birds and Bees Floral Focus Wildflower Turf is grown outdoors on a wildlife friendly plant nursery in the UK. The growers actively encourage birds, insects and other creatures to share the benefits of the plants as they grow. Pesticides and Weedkillers are not usually used in production which means that whilst there is no grass sown in this product, from time to time, seeds will be dropped by birds. The growers hand weed the mats to remove grass plants but occasionally one or two will be missed. THIS PRODUCT IS NOT GUARANTEED TO BE 100% GRASS FREE. The good news is that the growing medium we use makes it very easy to pluck out any unwanted plants that you see.
