Caribbean Blinds are kindly lending us one of their magnificent outdoor living pods for our show stand at Futurescape. We asked their Director Stuart Dantzic to tell us more about himself and the growth of his highly successful company.

What Was Your Inspiration To Start Caribbean Blinds?

Caribbean Blinds is a family-run business that has been going since 1987 – it was born from the frustration of not being able to source UK made pergolas to enhance outdoor living and external shading, since we started it has gone from strength to strength.

Why Do You Love The Outdoor Living Industry?

Quite simply the transformation of outdoor space is what really inspires us. Bland outdoor spaces can be transformed to really integrate with homes, maximising the use of space and enhancing our clients gardens and commercial outdoor space.  The industry is constantly innovating new products and solutions to meet customer demand.  The pandemic really changed mindsets - it was a huge boost to the landscape industry as homeowners learned how to enjoy their homes and gardens more.

The other thing I love about this business is that no two projects are the same, there is HUGE variety with each end result.

What Is Your Favourite Project And Why?

There are so many it is hard to choose.  My personal favourite has to be Ridgeview winery – this entirely alfresco space which includes a restaurant demanded the most innovative shading solutions to support their vision – it was complex to achieve – has been a huge success and the team at Ridgeview Winery were an absolute pleasure to work with.

What Do You Do In Your Spare Time?

I love the gym, and am lucky to be a member of Third Space in Canary Wharf, a great place to work out and decompress after a long working day. Whenever the opportunity arises, I thoroughly enjoy family time with my wife and two children. We have another baby on the way and I can't wait to welcome them to the world!

Finally – What Is Your Favourite Salty Snack Drinks Combi To Enjoy In The Garden?

It has to be a mojito – with a side order of Pork Scratchings (so old school, so good!)
