Limestone is a sedimentary rock formed (usually) on ancient sea beds by layers and layers of shelled creatures. Consequently, it’s not unusual to see wonderful shapes, striations, and even traces of fossils in any hard landscaping materials made from this beautiful natural stone.

Choosing Limestone Paving

Limestone pavers really do lend a classically simple feel to a landscaping project with their understated elegance.  At Arbour Landscape Solutions we are proud to offer plenty of choice in the limestone category.

Our Egyptian Limestone pavers are trending at the moment. These are sublime quality, from a well run quarry and available at a very reasonable price point.  Best of all, they are already in the UK, waiting patiently in our yard until somebody needs them. Which means, of course, that we can delivery Egyptian Limestone products directly to your site in as little as 2-3 working days.

As well as limestone pavers, we supply Limestone Setts and for the environmentally conscious, we can also help you to source reclaimed natural stone for your project.

Pre-Sealed Limestone Pavers

The one disadvantage with natural limestone is that it is porous, which means it can be stained by spilt wine, coffee or oil.  Avoid ugly marks on your patio by invesing in pre-sealed pavers.  Slabs are soaked in a special solution whilst in the factory. This seals any microscopic pores in the surface of the pavers and stops liquids infiltrating the rock.  It does not affect the durability or the appearance of the limestone - in fact, if anything, it will enhance the natural striations and markings within the stone.

You can order presealed limestone pavers online from the Arbour Landscape Solutions website. Or, if you prefer, you can buy stone sealer to apply yourself.

Frequently Asked Questions
Limestone paving slabs have an amazing aesthetic appeal. They’re made using an entirely natural material which hasn’t been altered in any way apart from being shaped into regular sized pieces. Which means that they blend organically into a garden setting.

Limestone is available in many different colours from deepest dramatic dark grey to softer tones such as soft, misty greys and beiges to complement any mood, style or ambience.

From a practical point of view, limestone is incredibly tough, which means it’s an absolute dream to install as paving slabs can be trimmed to size without shattering. It will take centuries for a limestone path or patio to be worn away by footfall and, provided it’s been properly installed onto a robust sub-base, you can drop almost any object on it without damaging the surface. This stone is frost resistant, slip resistant, and, after sealing, is stain resistant too.

Best of all, should you ever decide to change your garden, natural limestone pavers can be reused and recycled. There’s no need to send them to landfill.
The cost of limestone pavers will vary according to their size, their quality and the size of an order. Various surface treatments such as bush hammering, acid washing or honing may also have a bearing on the cost. However, when you buy any landscaping materials from Arbour Landscaping Solutions you’ll find that our pricing is clear, transparent. There are no hidden costs. We even offer free delivery on showroom stock. https://www.arbourlandscapesolutions.co.uk/showroom-stock/ Register on our website as a trade buyer and you will be able to build and save quotes for any of our online products. For large or bespoke orders, please don’t hesitate to get in touch for a personalised quote.
Limestone paving is available in an array of colours from almost black to off-white with various shades of grey and beige in between. It’s not unusual to find slight colour variations within a slab either. Subtle striations and visible fossils just add to the aesthetic value.

Landscaping experts advise building a library of samples and comparing them under different conditions (wet, dry, sunshine, twilight, artificial light) before settling on the right paving for your garden design.

Several different surface finishes can be applied to limestone pavers, including honing (polished smooth) acid washed (for an attractively mottled texture) and bush hammered (for added slip resistance) are just three examples. You’ll find more information about colours and finishes in our complete guide to Egyptian Limestone. https://www.arbourlandscapesolutions.co.uk/blog-post/guide-to-egyptian-limestone/
Limestone paving slabs are very well suited to patios as well as paths, stepping stones, poolside areas, courtyard gardens, terraces, wall copings and much more. These stones look and feel incredibly luxurious without being ostentatious.
