A Garden for Entertainment, Dining & Relaxing

Project Type: Domestic Front & Rear Garden

Craig Mcgibbon and his team have completed a simple and effective project at this detached modern family home in Shenley, built in the early 2000s. This southwest facing garden benefits from long hours of afternoon and evening sun. Being keen cooks, Craig’s client’s wanted to make the most of an underused space in the garden for cooking and entertaining.

Brief
A garden that does it all

The clients wanted a garden for entertaining, dining, and relaxing. In addition to replacing the
existing paving, they also wanted a shelter over a brick-built outdoor kitchen so they can
cook during the winter months in a neglected sloping, unused corner of the plot.
For the front garden the goal was to improve curb appeal; changing the block-paved path
and the tarmac driveway for blocks and also to find a home for their vintage Land Rover.
Overall the front and rear garden account for 370m2 of space to reconfigure and refine.

Challenge
Controlling the flow

Designing the flow between exiting the patio doors to the main entertaining areas with the
sloping garden. A clever selection of water-features, raised beds and steps lead the
homeowner and guests to the new entertaining spot!

Solution
A garden the client loves

The front & rear garden were transformed creating a space fit for entertaining, dining & relaxing. The front garden and driveway was revitalised providing increased curb appeal as well as the perfect spot for the client's beloved Range Rover.
