A Family Garden That Feels Secluded Despite Being Overlooked

To make full use of their generously sized garden for entertaining, playing, and relaxing, the homeowners needed to address the privacy challenge posed by five overlooking neighbouring properties. They sought a feeling of seclusion within their space.

High up on their wish list was a swing seat as well as space for outdoor dining and an outdoor shelter.

Challenge
Design Changes During The Build

The homeowner was uncertain about the proportions of some of the garden features, and so designer Catriona Stiles was called upon to collaborate with her client and their landscapers to make running changes to the layout.

Those beautiful curved walls and planters were a new challenge for the landscapers, but, as you can see, they did an excellent job of figuring out how to build them to a very high standard.

Solution
A Suburban Corner Plot That Feels Like A Country Retreat

Catriona's design has successfully created a feeling of seclusion despite the garden being large and overlooked. The curved paths enable amazing views from all over the garden and from inside the house. Pods of planting have given layers of privacy. We love the way that the hard landscaping blends subtly with the soft landscaping for a cohesive design with an imaginative journey around the space.

The choice of Pietra Jura Beige Porcelain Paving is perfect for this space. It's a classic colourway with warm tones that allow the plants to take centre stage at all times. Beautiful!
