Thinking ahead to meet the landscaping trends of 2022

07/09/2021 - News

This year is flying by and 2022 will soon be here. The team at Arbour Landscape Solutions are working hard to predict which garden design trends will predominate in 2022 - and we’re making sure that we will be able to source and supply the landscaping materials you’ll need.

Shortages of materials and lengthy delivery lead times have been a real challenge for the UK landscape industry of late. And that situation looks set to continue well into 2022.  Which is why, our Landscape Industry Specialists have secured a stock holding of many non-perishable landscaping basics.  Porcelain paving, natural stone, grouts and essentials such as RLS vite clips - even cement!

Our stock holding allows us to deliver within 2-3 working days of receiving an order and allows our customers to manage their projects with ease.

By talking to garden designers, landscape architects and landscapers, we’ve identified the landscaping trends for 2022 - and we’re securing stocks of the materials you’ll need to build those beautiful gardens.

  • Edible Gardens.

Cooking and Eating Outside.

Garden designers are reporting a strong demand for outdoor kitchens and al fresco eating areas. Clients want to be able to spend as much time as possible out of doors, with family and friends - and they are planning to use outdoor eating areas throughout the year.

What does that mean for landscapers?

There’s no better way of building a robust outdoor kitchen than by using solid wall blocks.  This is an innovative system that allows you to build a mould for your kitchen and then cast it in-situ using concrete.  No more bricklaying, no more struggling to get hold of bricks and blocks and an endless choice of decorative finishes. When you use the solid wall system, you can be confident that your outdoor kitchen will be able to support the weight of a pizza oven as well as being weatherproof and long lasting.

Achieve a beautiful finish for your outdoor kitchen with XTech porcelain cladding or natural split face stone cladding. Then top it all off with an easy-to-clean XTech Worktop. X-Tech repels oils, liquid, red wine, mould and bacteria - so its ideal for outdoor food preparation areas.

Finally, your outdoor kitchen and dining area will need a beautiful porcelain patio, with UK Made Lighting and perhaps a pergola to help make summer last almost all year round.

Our yard is fully stocked with a wide range of porcelain pavers and natural stone - please don’t hesitate to ask us for samples - there’s plenty for you to look at.  Get in touch with the team here.

Edible Gardens

With talk on the news of predicted shortages on our supermarket shelves, more and more people are considering growing their own fruit and veg.

The solid wall system is great for building raised beds, as are oak sleepers.  And don’t forget the growing media - bagged or loose - you’ll find that our Soil and Compost prices (and our delivery lead times) are very competitive.

Sustainable Gardens

Modern consumers are beginning to think harder about what they are buying. Where does it come from? What impact does it have on the environment and on communities?

The Arbour Eco Range is chockablock full of landscaping materials that will bring sustainability to your garden designs and landscaping projects.

From natural stone quarried here in the UK, to products made using recycled materials, and of course innovative ways of cramming more plants into a project without making more work.

Biodiversity is a tricky one to fit in to some garden design wish lists.  Too many householders associate plants with gardening - and they don’t want to commit to lots of garden maintenance.  But a lightweight sedum roof, a well designed living wall or a wildflower meadow can make a big difference to the biodiversity of a landscaping scheme without impacting on the long term maintenance.

Take a look at our article explaining How To Specify And Build A Simple Sedum Green Roof - perfect for a garden building and a great talking point in any low maintenance garden design.

Need help finding materials that fit with your design ethos AND are available to deliver within your time frame?  Talk to our team at any stage of your landscaping project….from specification to installation.

We’re very happy to join you on site to discuss the pros, cons, prices and availability of any and all of the products in our range.  And remember - the earlier you let us know what you’ll need, the better the service we can offer.
