How Mark Wakley of Freshscapes redesigned and refreshed a tired patio area in this Buckinghamshire Garden
Share
Brief
Updating the patio area

Mark was invited to redesign this garden in High Wycombe, Buckinnghamshire by removing the old patio and replacing it with a more user-friendly hard landscaped space. His client wanted a firepit area for relaxing and socialising, a place to indulge his passion for outdoor cooking and better access to his home office - which is in a garden building.

Challenge
Interesting Paving Patterns

On the whole, the project ran beautifully smoothly. An accommodating client, good access and kind weather meant there were no major hiccoughs during the build. Mark did however need to scratch his head a bit over the cutting. One of the paved areas involved some tricky angles as the annex wasn't square to the house. All in a day's work for experienced landscapers like Freshscapes.

Solution
Natural Limestone for a Traditional Feel

As and contractor, Mark had full control over the materials he specified and installed. The client had asked fo a cottage-style garden with a contemporary twist and so Mark opted for natural limestone paving and used limestone setts to create stunning decorative features.
Phase 2 of this project will be all about enhancing that cottage garden look and feel with some wildflower turf to attract butterflies and bees.
