Brief
Smart Courtyard to Compliment a Coach House

Jerry Connors of J C Drive and Patios was commissioned to improve the courtyard of an old coach house in Mixbury on the Oxfordshire/Northants border.
The clients had a good idea of what they wanted. Jerry's job was to make a robust surface, strong enough for vehicular traffic, well drained and elegantly presented right across the 90m2 area.

Challenge
Drainage and Utilities

Jerry tells us that his biggest challenges whilst creating this project were to install adequate soakaways and to make sure that the drainage was in keeping with the style of the property.
He created two shallow gullies which also serve to frame the back door of the property and lead the eye towards the entranceway.
At the same time as organising drainage, the team needed to work around infrastructure services such as water, gas and electric. As you can imagine from the design of the property - pipes and wires are concentrated in this area with stables, garages and the house all needing good supplies.

Solution
A New Driveway That Looks Old

With period properties, it's often important that any new landscaping should be in keeping with the house and outbuildings. It needs to look as though it's always been there.
By using natural York Stone Setts, the drive/courtyard takes on the same traditional look and feel as the surrounding structures.
Jerry has done an excellent job with the drainage too. Replicating the methods use throughout the ages to create stable yards and coaching yards all around the UK.
Another brilliant project completed by a skilled landscaper.
