Garden Makeover Using Siberian Larch

Project Type:
An imaginative scheme, designed and built by One Oak Garden Design and Landscaping brings life to an under-used garden. The clever use of Siberian Larch gives a naturalistic feel to this moderately sized plot.

Brief
A garden makeover completed in stages

After previously laid some Kandala Grey Riven Sandstone for this family and installing a new shed, the householders invited Ed Garrod and his team back to the site to discuss some more changes. This relatively new property (built less than 20 years ago) has a decent sized, south facing garden that just wasn't being used to its full potential.
The clients wanted to replace the uneven lawn, remove an overgrown bamboo hedge and improve privacy. With the garden tidied up, the family then wanted to improve the usability by installing a deck, some seating and beautiful planters.
Ed designed a scheme using oak sleepers for the planters and a floating seat, Trex decking and a very stylish Siberian Larch fence that looks as though it is floating around the garden.

Challenge
Good Weather, Great Clients

Ed says that this is the first project in many years where the team faced none of the usual challenges. So often projects are delayed by bad weather, beset by client queries, or unexpected problems arising on site. So it was a pleasure to work on this scheme.

The only potential difficulty, as any landscaper working during the COVID crisis will relate to, was delivery lead times. After one supplier announcing that they were unable to deliver within Ed's preferred time frame, he contacted Richard Bickler from Arbour Landscape Supplies who reacted with his customary speed. The order was placed on the Monday - by Wednesday afternoon the delivery was on site.

Solution
A practical and very usable room outdoors

Ed and the team at One Oak Garden Design and Landscaping are justifiably proud of this project. The optical illusion created by painting the existing fence to match the Durapost posts (in Anthracite) and then "floating" the Siberian larch privacy panels above it, has not only save the client's money - it looks amazing too. The oak sleepers and Trex decking are a great combination of materials - especially with the larch fencing as a backdrop.
The clients were overjoyed with he completed garden. They said they felt as though they were on a TV garden makeover program!

The service was second to none. We couldn't have asked for a quicker delivery, especially when material deliveries across the board are so difficult to receive on time. It was a real stress reliever knowing that we were getting our materials swiftly, which in turn meant a project run to time and a very happy client.
