Brief
Turning Unused Outdoor Space into a Courtyard Garden

The COVID 19 Pandemic and consequential lockdowns encouraged a great many urban dwellers to make more of what little outdoor space they had available to them. This landscaping scheme was one such project.
The clients wanted a restful space, with year round visual interest, a sense of being immersed in nature, minimal maintenance and maximum wildlife appeal. They had a partial design in mind - our job was to adapt the design to suit the conditions on site.

Challenge
Restricted Access and the Challenges Posed by COVID

Working in Hampstead meant that deliveries were a challenge - poor access for large vehicles, parked cars and having nowhere to store materials while we worked were our main headaches. The team were also impacted by COVID which really did affect supply and demand, to the extent that a job that should have taken one week, was spread over 6 months. Despite everything though, the courtyard looks spectacular - clients and contractors are very happy with it.

Solution
A Calming Space for All Year Round Use

The Hine Garden Design team are justifiably proud of this project. Keeping to a very simple colour palette and repeating elements and materials throughout the space makes it feel calm and harmonious. A very welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle of this built up London area - and doubtless a great way to add value to the property.
