Brief
A peaceful retreat

Garden Designer Bean Nicholson, hard landscaper Ben Browning, and plantsman Sean Beale were tasked with creating a peaceful retreat that blended with existing landscaped features within the garden.
The client asked for an outdoor kitchen, sunken patio, a bar, and hot tub. All of which needed to complement the character of this well-appointed rural property.

Challenge
Challenges beyond the landscapers' control

Work began on this beautifully designed garden in February 2020 and continued through what must have been the wettest spring on record.
8 weeks into the project, the COVID-19 pandemic reared its ugly head. All works were put on hold until extra health and safety measures could be implemented.
When the team finally returned to the site, flaming June provided a heatwave. Never pleasant when you are working hard out of doors!

Solution
A great collaboration between designer and contractor

Every garden begins with a design and Bean Nicholson certainly came up trumps with this one. It's divine. Having said that, the workmanship involved is second to none. All credit to the team from Unique Projects Devon for the hard landscaping and to Lackford Estates for the planting.

Choice of materials was key in this project, and that's where Richard Bickler's ability to source high quality landscaping products came to the fore.

Lead Designer Bean Nicholson had specified Purbeck stone � to reflect the area. She also opted for granite setts and porcelain paving for a timeless appeal. Porcelain paving and granite setts were joined by bespoke bullnose copings in slate.
A fire pit was created using paddlestones topped with an occasional cover/table created by a local artisan. No detail was overlooked. This specialist joiner normally works on super-yachts!
Arbour Landscape Solutions were delighted to supply some of the products used in this project - it's certainly one to be proud of!
