Sapele Batten & Square Edge Sections

When you’re working on a high-end garden and don’t want to compromise on quality, it’s well worth considering sapele for creating some of the furniture and fittings.  This beautiful hardwood is sometimes known as African Mahogany, but actually, we think it’s more attractive than ‘normal’ mahogany.

Just look at that impressive grain! Gorgeous! And as for the richly toned colour that only gets deeper with age - well, you just can’t beat it.

Great for fencing, screening, storage cabinets, doors, seating, countertops and flooring and if your first instincts make you nervous about using this wood out of doors, you might be surprised to discover that Sapele is used to build boats.  It doesn’t mind water, sunlight or frost. It’s not attractive to wood chomping bugs and is said to be fire resistant too.

Botanical Name : Entandrophragma Cylindricum.

Origin : West and Central Africa.

Working Properties: Works well with hand and machine tools, nails, screws and glues well. Properties care required when staining but provides excellent polished finish.  

Fixings : We recommend using stainless steel nails as other metals can cause staining.

Durability: Moderately durable

Density: 620 kg/m³

• 9mm x 47mm, PAR square edge sections, 3.6-4.5m lengths.
• 44mm x 44mm, PAR square edge sections, 3.6-4.5m lengths.
• 44mm x 94mm, PAR square edge sections, 3.6-4.5m lengths.
• 44mm x 144mm PAR square edge sections, 3.6-4.5m lengths.
• 68mm x 68mm, PAR square edge sections, 3.6-4.5m lengths.
• 94mm x 94mm, PAR square edge sections, 3.6-4.5m lengths.
