Meet Luke Boam From Concretion

The genius behind this easy to handle and stylish product is Luke Boam from Concretion. As a landscaper himself, Luke knows what’s needed to make life more comfortable for the teams that build gardens.

We asked him to tell us more about himself.

What Inspired You To Create A Lightweight Concrete Product? 

Owning a landscaping company, I know firsthand the importance of efficiency and manual handling products. Moving large blocks of concrete or casting in situ isn't an easy task at the best of times - yet many people are fascinated with the finish and style these products have to offer. Many clients would mention their difficulty in finding contractors that would dare with the installation or casting of such products. However, we loved the challenge as well as loving the end result of creating floating concrete steps, benches and kitchens. The downside was that we were limited geographically...  which got me thinking of a way to get this amazing product used nationwide without the technical risk and high price it sometimes requires. 

Why Do You Love The Landscape Industry? 

It's such a rewarding industry to be in, watching people enjoy a space that you have helped create. I love to think that I am contributing to make our planet a more beautiful place, one bit at a time. That is why I named my landscaping company The Promised Landscapes, because the Promised Land in the Bible describes it as a place of beauty where the soul longs to be. As per Concretion, we loved the fact that we were working from our experience, not only knowing what the costumers are after, but also how the professionals who install the products would like the product to be. I am always thinking of ways to make my employees life easier, because my motto is 'work smarter, not harder'. If you could choose a product that required less men handling, less tool/crane hire, easier transportation/installation and personalised service to your exact specificacions to simplify your life... would you not go for that?

What Is Your Favourite Project To Date and Why?

It's so hard to choose - but we created an outdoor masterpiece of a kitchen... the entire insitu concrete kitchen with fitted appliances, a beast of a grill, retractable pergola, concrete table... it was a real work of heart, which really blended with the landscaping materials that were used for the surrounding garden area.

What Do You Do In Your Free Time? 

3 young boys, 2 businesses and very demanding wife. Whats free time?? Jokes aside, I love to grill. And eat. So whenever I can I am either cooking steaks as thick as my head or knocking up a paella my Spanish wife has helped me perfect. 

What Is Your Favourite Salty Snack And Drinks Combi To Enjoy In The Garden? 

Crisps and a cold pint of St Mungos- (a Scottish beer I love). yum!!
