Arbour Landscape Solutions Monthly Round Up: September 2022

Our wonderful Monarch Queen Elizabeth II has passed. We have a new King Charles III. And a new Prime Minister, Elizabeth Truss. The War in Ukraine continues. The Russian monopoly on gas has been the precursor to huge energy bills.  All on the back of a global pandemic.  Our national media continues to paint a picture of doom and gloom, and yet, life and work goes on.  Whilst it is not easy to remain positive with all of this flying around our focus remains always ‘what can we do to help?’

How are you doing?  What can we do to support you?

Mia Bickler Advances Her Education

Mia Bickler

On the home front at the Arbour Landscape Solutions family our Mia Bickler is off to University!  We imagine many of our industry colleagues will also be delivering their young adults to their chosen university in the next couple of weeks and we wish them all well in the next stage of their education.

Some More Positive News From Our Industry

The landscaping industry is endlessly resourceful and hard-working and it is wonderful to see consistent progress despite the challenges presented to us all.

Awesome industry greening projects such as Superbloom 2022 which included the Burberry Floating Meadow – are becoming more mainstream and really testing landscaping industry’s specialist skills.

Training

Task Academy has launched their new training hub, we cannot wait to see how this evolves.

Apprenticeships in landscape construction are alive and kicking with this being a very popular way to enter the industry and learn on the job.

Last July 2021 the RHS reported that applicants for its work-based training programmes had reached its highest number in decades, as many people consider their post-pandemic career options. It said it had seen a 58% increase in applicants for its work-based training programmes. Focusing on three of its programmes, it noted an increase in numbers across two, by 60% for its entry-level apprenticeship scheme and 81% for its specialist horticultural placements programme.

Shows, Conferences and Awards

The Society of Garden Designers has launched their Affiliate Member program which we are proud to be part of, and we very much look forward to attending the annual SGD conference in November, and the awards dinner on the 23rd September.

BALI has announced its latest award winners who represent a huge cross section of the industry from designers, to urban greening specialists, landscape construction and landscape maintenance.

The RHS gardens of 2023 are already being planned.

Let’s all focus on the positives and make the next 12 months as bump free as possible.

We are as ever at your service with a wealth of experience to support and overcome challenges.
