Wildflower Native Enriched Turf

For wonderfully colourful statement planting that is easy on the eye and good for nature, try Wildflower Native Enriched Turf.  It’s a mix of native and naturalised wild flower species all cultivated onto pre-grown mats. The overall effect is something very similar to a cottage garden. Lovely!

For the landscaper, that means instant ground cover without having to establish individual plants. For the client, it’s the promise of a vibrant, low maintenance slice of biodiversity.

Turf size will vary with application but is generally 1m x 0.64m = 0.64m2 slabbed OR 1.62m x 0.77m = 1.25m2 rolled per turf on pallets. Larger 2 x 20m (40m2) roll sizes are also available. They can each weigh between 750-900kgs each and need special machinery to offload and roll out on site.

The species mix in wildflower native enriched turf includes mainly perennial plants with a small proportion of colourful, self-seeding annuals, some biennials and 3 types of grasses.. There are a total of 55 plant species in all, some are native to the UK, others are naturalised species that have been living here happily for decades. (85% flora/15% grass ratio)

This wildflower turf is grown using sustainable ingredients such as composted green waste and organic nutrients. Other inputs such as water are carefully monitored.

Key Points

• Flowering Time: March – October (depending on local weather conditions).
• Your Heritage Wildflower Native Enriched Turf will be mown before harvest so that plants are not damaged during transportation. The flowering plants will not be blooming when it is delivered
• Depending on the time of year it can take a few weeks for plants to establish, grow and start blooming. If you would like it to flower in its first summer we recommend installing Wildflower Native Enriched Turf before the end of March.
• Each of the species will respond differently to soil type, local weather conditions and care regimes. In fact the balance of species changes from year to year which means that your wildflower area will continue to fascinate you more with every season
