DESCRIPTION

Portuguese Laurel Instant Hedging - attractive, evergreen and quick

Portuguese laurel Prunus lusitanica is an attractive evergreen hedging plant with smaller leaves and tighter foliage than its cousin the common laurel. Shiny dark green leaves each with a distinctive pointed shape are carried on ruby coloured stems. Because it is reasonably resistant to pests and diseases and of good constitution the RHS have awarded Portuguese laurel an Award of Garden Merit Little wonder that it's one of our best selling instant hedges.

What is instant hedging?

Instant hedging is a relatively new idea that takes the hastle out of growing a hedge. There's no more planting individual bare root hedging plants and hoping they all survive. Neither are there large numbers of potted plants generating copious numbers of plastic pots to be disposed of. We grow our instant hedging in such a way as the roots are not disturbed during harvesting and transportation. There are no pots to be recycled and the vegetation itself is beautifully knitted together so there are no gaps between the plants.

Dimensions

Available in heights of 1.2, 1.6, 1.8 & 2.0m.
Width of plants 60-80cm approx.
Length of plants 2.4m approx.
Weight: 80-150Kg per 2.4 m section
Up to 65 linear metres of hedging can be delivered by artic, up to 35 linear metres by rigid lorry, up to 25 linear metres on a 7.5t lorry & up to 10m on a luton van.
